Tata Power to set up 150MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has granted the “Letter of Award” (LoA) to Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a Tata Power subsidiary, to build a 150MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra.

The LoA was obtained through competitive tariff-based bidding and an e-Reverse auction. Within 18 months of the day the PPA was executed, the project would be put into operation.

Mr. Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, commented on the project win as follows: “Receiving the LoA from MSEDCL for the 150MW solar project seems like an honour. The honour supports our goal of building a resilient environment for the transition to a greener future and demonstrates our ability to complete solar projects of the highest calibre.”

As a result, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity is now 5,786 MW, with 3,877 MW of that installed (Solar: 2,949 MW; Wind: 928 MW); and 1,909 MW at various phases of implementation.
