In order to increase its manufacturing capacity, Voltas would invest more than Rs 1,000 crore, which includes building a new plant close to Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Government approval has not yet been granted for a second proposed Rs 500 crore compressor project in collaboration with China’s Highly International. The projected expenditures are intended to accelerate the rate of expansion for the air conditioner and home appliance manufacturer owned by Tata.
The Press Note 3 and PLI approvals are still pending, therefore the planned compressor facility in joint venture (JV) with Highly under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme remains in limbo.
The compressor plant will be built not far from Chennai. The state government has given the firm a 150-acre property tract. A Rs. 500 crore Highly plant and a second Rs. 500 crore AC manufacturing facility are part of the project.
At its factory in Baroda, Voltas would also invest Rs 100 crore for room air conditioning and Rs 200 crore for commercial refrigeration and AC expansion.
A further Rs 200 crore will be invested in the home appliance factory in Sanand, close to Ahmedabad.
