Reliance Jio likely is in talks with global operators to supply its locally developed end-to-end 5G stack

Jio Platforms has developed an end-to-end 5G solution consisting of 5G radio, a complete 5G core network, cloud infrastructure deployment as well as the cloud-native operation support system (OSS) platforms.

“The commercial rollout of 5G services across the country will be done through a combination of network equipment from global firms like Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung as well as its local solution,” said the executive.

Reliance Jio is set to launch 5G services across metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata by Diwali. The company will cover the entire country with 5G by the end of 2023.

Jio is the only operator in India which plans to roll out its 5G network on a standalone (SA) mode, wherein all infrastructure such as cell sites transmit only 5G signals. Most other operators, including Bharti Airtel, are launching 5G on the non-standalone (NSA) mode, which straddles existing 4G infrastructure such as mid-band spectrum (1800 MHz, 2100 MHz bands) with the 3300 MHz band, to offer 5G speeds.
