L&T obtains numerous EPC orders to construct transmission lines & substations in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabian power transmission lines and substations will be built by construction and engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The contracts fall under the’significant’ category, which has a value between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore, even though the corporation hasn’t disclosed the actual value of the orders.

“The Power Transmission & Distribution business of Larsen & Toubro has secured multiple EPC orders in the current quarter to build Transmission Lines and Substations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the company said in a statement on Monday (31 October).

More than 400 km of 380kV overhead transmission lines and a new 230kV gas-insulated substation with related automation and protection systems will be built by the company, it was announced.

According to the company, Saudi Arabia is undertaking an ambitious National Renewable Energy Program to achieve the ideal generation mix as envisioned in its strategic vision for 2030, and the strengthening of the transmission network bodes well for providing a reliable, safe, and efficient electricity supply.
