Hindustan Zinc has reported highest-ever second quarter mined metal production

Hindustan Zinc, producing more mined metal than ever in the second quarter, at 255 kt, a 3% YoY increase, was made possible by higher grades and greater mill recoveries. Better grades accounted for the majority of the 1% sequential gain. With increased smelter performance, greater mined metal supply, and base impact from a lengthy maintenance closure during the same time last year, refined metal output reached 246 kt, an increase of 18% YoY. However, due to decreased roaster availability brought on by the failure of an acid storage tank at the Chanderiya facility in 2QFY23 and the time required to ramp up production after repair, refined metal was lower by 6% QoQ.

Production of integrated zinc totaled 189 kt, up 16% YoY but down 8% QoQ. Production of refined lead increased by 21% YoY and 5% QoQ to 57kt. In accordance with lead metal production and the liquidation of WIP, saleable silver output increased by 28% YoY and 10% QoQ to 6.2 moz.
