Tata Power arm receives LoA for 200 MW solar project from MSEDCL

Tata Power Company announced that its subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has received a letter of award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for the establishment of a 200 MW solar PV project in Solapur, Maharashtra. Competitive bidding was used to award the project, which was then followed by a reverse e-auction. The installation, which will be one of the largest solar PV projects, will reduce approximately 432.94 million kg of CO2 emissions per year. The project will be completed within 18 months of the execution date of the power purchase agreement (PPA).

TPREL’s total renewables capacity is 6,503MW, with 3,909 MW installed (Solar – 2,981 MW & Wind – 928 MW) and 2,594MW in various stages of implementation. Ashish Khanna, chief executive officer (CEO), Tata Power Renewable Energy, said, We have a current countrywide portfolio of more than 6.5 GW and securing yet another Letter of Award’ for setting up a 200 MW solar PV project underlines the trust and confidence MSEDCL has in our execution and engineering capabilities. We are confident that this project will cement our position as a state leader in providing clean and reliable power for many years to come.”
