A 1,000 MW hydroelectric project and a 2,000 MW solar project, totaling Rs 20,000 crore in investment, will be developed by a joint venture between the state-run SJVN Ltd and Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO), according to SJVN Green Energy, an arm of SJVN Ltd. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the two businesses in Bhubaneswar for the joint development of hydroelectric and solar energy projects.
This MOU will open the door for the creation of a joint venture between SGEL and GRIDCO to produce green power, create new direct and indirect employment opportunities, support local businesses, reduce carbon emissions, and promote the sustainable and all-around growth of the state. Additionally, by doing so, Odisha will be able to meet its target under its Renewable Purchase Obligation.
An investment of Rs 20,000 crores will be made in Odisha for the construction of 1000 MW hydroelectric projects and 2000 MW solar power projects.
