RailTel Corporation of India, a Mini Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, announced on Wednesday that it had received a work order from the NIC Centres for Point-to-Point lease line connectivity of 4 Mbps to 19 immigration centres across the country. This order was received from National Informatics Centre Services Inc (NICSI), a state-owned subsidiary of NIC. The work order is valid for one year.
According to RailTel, the work order is for point-to-point lease line connectivity of 4 Mbps at 19 Immigration Centres across India from the NIC Centres for seamless Immigration services under the Immigration, Visa, Foreigner’s Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) project. This order is in addition to the previous lease line connectivity work order issued by NICSI. RailTel currently offers leasing line connectivity to 47 immigration/foreigners regional registration offices (FRROs).
The goal of the IVFRT project is to modernise and improve immigration services. The primary goal of this project is to develop and implement a secure and integrated service delivery framework that facilitates legitimate travellers while strengthening security. These immigration centres will be located at airports, land checkpoints, and seaports, with connectivity provided via an optical fibre cable network. “The current order is in line with RailTel’s core competencies.” With this project, travellers to India can enjoy seamless, effective, and efficient online immigration services.
