The state-owned Power Grid Corporation announced that it had won five inter-state electricity transmission projects through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. According to a BSE filing, the company will build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) the inter-state transmission system for the aforementioned projects. The first transmission network expansion project in Gujarat is for the establishment of 765kV D/C transmission lines passing through the state, which is associated with the integration of RE projects from the Khavda potential RE zone.
The project’s scope of work is ‘transmission scheme for evacuation of 4.5GW RE injection at Khavda PS under Phase II- Part B’, which includes the installation of 765kV D/C transmission lines passing through Gujarat and bays extension works. The transmission scheme for the evacuation of 4.5GW RE injection at Khavda PS under Phase II-Part C project includes the construction of a new 765/400kV substation in Ahmedabad and bay extension work in Navsari in Gujarat, as well as a 765kV D/C transmission line that runs through the state.
Another inter-regional ER-WR interconnection project is the construction of 400kV D/C transmission lines through the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, as well as bay extension work. Power Grid Corporation’s primary business is power transmission via its transmission network.
