ONGC to build a gigawatt-sized solar power plant in Rajasthan

The Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) intends to build a 1 GW solar power facility in Rajasthan in an effort to get a foothold in the clean energy sector. The Oil and Gas PSU is currently in talks with the Rajasthan government and wants 5,000 acres of land for the mega solar project.

After receiving the necessary land, the project is anticipated to cost Rs 5,000 crore and take three years to complete. The proposed facility will aid in satisfying ONGC’s internal demand for electricity. Additionally, it will enable the business to sell power on the open market.

Given that ONGC, a Maharatna PSU, is currently hardly present in the renewable energy sector, the project will be crucial for ONGC.
