L&T declared as L-1 bidder for New Delhi railway station redevelopment project

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been selected as the low bidder (L-1) for the redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station (NDRS). The bid value exceeds Rs 8,000 crore, far exceeding the project’s estimated cost of around Rs 5,000 crore. As a result, the authorities may take up to a month to make a final decision. The railways intend to bid out the project in April 2023, with construction beginning in the following months. It will take at least two years to redevelop NDRS, which receives 4.5 lakh visitors per day.

Previously, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved Rs 10,000 crore for the renovation of three major stations: New Delhi, Mumbai Central Station (CST), and Ahmedabad.
