The EPC major announced that its construction arm had received “major” orders for its water and effluent treatment business. According to Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) classification, the significant project’s value ranges from Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 7,000 crore.
According to an exchange filing, L&T Construction’s water & effluent treatment business has received repeat orders from the Government of Madhya Pradesh to execute two lift irrigation projects to irrigate 2,05,000 hectare (Ha) of culturable command area covering more than 500 villages in the Dewas & Dhar districts of Madhya Pradesh on a turnkey basis.
Survey, design, engineering, procurement, construction of pump houses, laying of rising and gravity mains, distribution network, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for controlling and regulating the entire system are all part of the scope.
The micro irrigation projects will lift 60 cubic metres per second (cumecs) of water from the Narmada River to irrigate farmlands, thereby benefiting 3,00,000 farmers. During the Rabi season, the automation system with field instruments and automated valves will ensure a continuous supply of water. According to the company, this order reaffirms its credentials in the irrigation sector and reinforces customer confidence in the company’s ability to aid in the development of agriculture in the state.
