L&T Acquires Order From Greenko Group Worth Rs 1,000-2,500 Crore

On Thursday, Larsen and Turbo announced that the Greenko company has awarded a sizable order to its heavy civil infrastructure division of its construction arm for the development of an off-stream pumped storage project in Madhya Pradesh. Orders valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore are considered significant by the company.

The Gandhisagar Pumped Storage Project (PSP), as it is also known, seeks to achieve a pumped storage capacity of 10,080 MWHr.

The release from the multi-national construction behemoth L&T also stated that a consortium under the direction of L&T itself will carry out the project’s civil and hydromechanical operations. The project will be completed under a strict 30-month time frame and will rank among India’s largest sustainable energy initiatives.

According to the project specifications, the industry giant will have to build an upper reservoir close to the Khemla block hamlet, which is around 75 kilometres from Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh; however, it must first build an upper dam.
