At its ITI Palakkad Plant, multi-technology public sector powerhouse ITI Limited has put into operation a 1MW on-grid solar power plant. Shri Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of ITI Limited, officially opened the solar plant in the presence of Shri Prince R. V., Additional General Manager, and Shri Nagraj K. V., General Manager & Unit Head. ITI Limited will be able to save a lot of money on electricity costs thanks to the system’s commissioning, and since bidirectional ABT Metres have been installed here, it will also be able to bank and sell excess energy to the energy grid of Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL). Due to this installation, ITI Palakkad Plant will experience significant energy cost savings.
We are very happy to inaugurate the solar power plant, which is a significant step in our sustainability journey and also in our energy conservation efforts, said Shri Rajesh Rai, CMD, ITI Limited in his speech at the opening. Our goal of lowering our carbon footprint and promoting clean energy is aligned with this initiative. “Another encouraging development to note here, and one of which we are very proud, is that 3702 Solar PV Panels of 325Wp have been sourced from ITI Limited’s Naini Plant, which produces them,” Mr. Rai continued. We anticipate expanding the solar projects across all of our Units. The Plant’s commissioning was a part of our ongoing and sincere efforts to help our nation move towards a greener future.
ITI Limited will be able to reduce 750 tonnes of CO2 annually with this installation, which is equivalent to planting about 4500 trees annually. The Plant will also produce 12.5 lac energy units annually. The Project aims to support environmental sustainability and represents a significant step towards the Company’s objective of implementing new technology. At its units in Naini, Raebareli, Mankapur, Lucknow, and Bangalore, ITI Limited currently has rooftop captive solar power plants.
