Dhunseri Tea signs a MoU with Apeejay Tea

Dhunseri Tea & Industries, promoted by C K Dhanuka, is set to purchase another two tea gardens from Apeejay Tea Ltd, a subsidiary of the Apeejay Surrendra group, shortly after completing a deal with Warren Tea to purchase four tea estates in Assam.

Dhunseri Tea has entered into Memorandum of Understanding with Apeejay Tea Limited for acquisition of two tea estates located in Tinsukia District in the State of Assam for a total consideration of Rs 109.00 crore.

Dhunseri would gain a larger share of the Assam tea market as a result of the acquisition. The Dhunseri group signed a deal with Warren Tea last month for its four estates in Assam. Dhunseri’s production was around 6.5 million kg at the time. With the Apeejay acquisition, production is expected to increase to 14.6 million kg (mkg), including tea purchased from small tea growers. The two Apeejay estates produce approximately 3.1 mkg.
