Dalmia Cement partners with GreenLine Logistics to deploy 35 LNG trucks in its fleet

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited and a leading Indian cement manufacturer, has deployed its first fleet of 35 LNG trucks. For this initiative to build a ‘green’ supply chain, DCBL has partnered with GreenLine Logistics (Green Planet Logistics Pvt Ltd.), India’s first and only LNG-fueled heavy trucking logistics company. The first trucks were delivered to the company’s Chandrapur plant in Maharashtra. According to the company, the next deployment of 25 trucks will take place in April at its plant in Tamil Nadu.

By the end of FY24, Dalmia Cement intends to convert 10% of its existing fleet of 3,000 vehicles to the more environmentally friendly LNG alternative transport. According to the release, the current consignment is also one of the largest for LNG trucks signed with GreenLine Logistics in the cement sector. For the transportation of raw materials and bagged cement, the company has used two types of LNG trucks: trailer trucks and bulker trucks. These will cover a range of 50 to 600 kilometres for inbound and outbound logistics.

“We are proud to partner with Dalmia Cement in its emissions reduction journey by decarbonising its heavy trucking and will be investing INR 250 crore to enable the transition of 10% of its fleet to LNG by March 2024,” said Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine. Reducing emissions from heavy trucking is critical for corporations aiming for net-zero emissions. GreenLine’s fleet of LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks makes this possible.”
