According to Finolex Cables, a plant will be built at the Urse facility in Pune to produce optical fibre preforms and increase fibre draw capacity. The plant, which will have a starting capacity of 100 tonnes of preforms, is being built at a cost of about Rs 290 crore and will be entirely financed by internal accruals. According to the company’s regulatory filing, “The plant’s capacity would be scalable and would be expanded at a later date subject to market requirements.” Once all necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained, construction will start. After the plant’s construction has started, production from this new facility is anticipated to start in about 15 months.
