In order to jointly produce high-power, high-voltage turbogenerators, Honeywell and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s leading aerospace firm and a Navaratna military public sector organisation, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
“This MoU builds on a four-decade-long cooperation with the country’s pioneer in aeronautics and is an endorsement of our Make in India ambition,” said Honeywell India.
In order to enable a turbogenerator that can power hybrid-electric aircraft, including conventional airframes, unmanned aircraft, and urban air mobility vehicles, Honeywell will provide its 1-megawatt electric machine for use as a generator. This generator, which is also capable of operating as a 1-MW motor, may be easily combined with both brand-new and used gas turbine engines to produce extremely power-dense turbogenerators.
