Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), a state-run aerospace conglomerate, will supply spares and engine repair services to the Argentine Air Force’s two-tonne class helicopters. According to officials, the HAL signed an agreement with the South American country’s air force to extend the services. Argentina has already expressed a desire to purchase a batch of India’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas. “HAL signed a contract with the Argentinian Air Force (AAF) for the supply of spares and engine repair of legacy two-tonne class helicopters,” a HAL official said.
According to Brigadier General Issac, the support service contract is a stepping stone for future engagements and defence cooperation between India and Argentina. According to the official cited above, Ananthakrishnan stated that this contract will pave the way for new impetus for Latin American defence exports.
