BEL inks MoU with ADA for advanced medium combat aircraft programme

Bharat Electronics announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), DRDO, for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Bandhan event at Aero India 2023. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) was established in Bangalore in 1984 as part of the Department of Defence Research and Development (DR&D), Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India, to oversee the development of the country’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme.

The primary goal of ADA is to design and develop LCA to meet the Indian Air Force’s Air Staff Requirements (ASR), and then to design and develop carrier-borne naval variants and advanced versions of LCA (Mk1A, Mk2), Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) Aircraft, and so on. The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft is a multi-role, all-weather fighter aircraft designed for high survivability and stealth. The MoU aims to leverage BEL and ADA’s complementary strengths and capabilities, with both parties cooperating on the design, development, qualification, production, and supply of Internal Weapon Bay Computer and other LRUs for AMCA, as well as providing lifetime product support to the Indian Air Force.
